Sign Carving (Quarterboards) WorkshopCARVE A BEAUTIFUL SIGN FOR YOUR HOME Here is an opportunity to learn letter carving and design that lends itself to creative sign carving. I first started out in woodcarving in 1979 as a sign carver and have done many signs for commercial and residential settings. That said, you can also do lettering work on furniture projects such as Hope Chests or anything you might want to personalize to add to the overall design. Quarterboards are a traditional New England art form — carved wooden signs bearing the name of a ship, home, or estate. In this workshop you will learn the fundamentals of letter carving including layout, incise cutting, relief work, and finishing. You will go home with a beautiful, personalized sign that you made yourself.
